Synopsis:
Plantronics introduced the Wearable Concept 2, the newest platform which can help developers create their own masterpieces. The predecessor of Wearable Concept 1, this new platform was showcased during the CES 2015 to demonstrate its capabilities.

Plantronics, a leading company in wearable technology innovations, introduced Wearable Concept 2 (WC2), PLT Labs’ latest wearable prototype and successor to Wearable Concept 1 (WC1), last January 1st of this year.

Building on its predecessor’s platform, Wearable Concept 2 opens up more possibilities for developers and a lot more additional capabilities, which can be explored and used to create more quirky and unique applications, with the PLT Labs Wearable Concept Platform, which existence is for the purpose of extending the flagship technology of the company to new applications. Enjoy other Plantronics products through our store.

In addition to all its predecessor’s capabilities, Wearable Concept 2 has a power state, which is always on. It allows users to give out the interface hands-free voice commands, which can be applied to a couple of devices and applications. With enhanced motion-tracking capabilities, using three-dimensional space for the comprehensive capture of the device orientation is made possible.

Featuring the NXP A700x secure authentication microcontroller, the headset is able to serve as a multifactor wearable authentication device, which is full of sensor data like acceleration, angular velocity, and compass heading. Developers can maximize the use of Wearable Concept 2 and come up with useful and practical applications in different industries with the support of a lot of desktop and mobile platforms SDKs.

During the CES 2015, different features of the WC2 were demonstrated. WC2’s features showcased different possibilities because of the updates on the platforms. Besides these, use-cases for security, authentication, and robotics were also showcased. There were many possibilities ahead using the platform and there were two that were showcased.

The first possibility resulted in the integration of the platform with KUBI. From the assimilation, the Revolve Robotics teleportation robot was created. It can access remote multimedia collaboration in a hands-free manner, which is great in head tracking. In general, this will enable use cases like unified communications, telemedicine, and distance learning.

Another possibility is the Lockitron’s voice command solutions. A pioneer in contextually-aware keyless entry, Lockitron and the new voice command solutions has a device-based identity, which is secured and at the same time provides home and controlled sites management entry system to be safer and more intuitive.

Cary Bran, Vice President, New Ventures and Innovation, Plantronics said “We are pleased to improve upon the work we did for the original WC1. The WC2 adds new enterprise focused capabilities to our platform. Our goal is to identify and build solutions with our partners and developer community that improve the workplace by joining enterprise infrastructure with our wearable technology. Our demonstrations with KUBI from Revolve Robotics and Lockitron are great examples that showcase the vast potential of the WC2 platform”
